Benfica’s football victory in Guimaraes, Portugal was bittersweet for one family on Sunday (May 17), when police beat a man with batons as his children and father looked on.

Video taken outside the D. Afonso Henriques stadium shows a policeman knock the father to the ground and punch the children’s grandfather when he tried to intervene. 

Police reports accuse one of the men of ‘spitting at police and incurring disobedience to authority.’

The Portuguese Interior Ministry has announced an inquiry into the incident.
